Green and Leopard

Shirt:  Thrifted - $1.49,  Jeggings:  Walmart - $7.00, Boots:  JCPenney - $40.00

This shirt was purchased way back in May for my May Wish List.  It was originally a size 2X that I altered to fit me.  Took in the sides and arms but left it a little big as I like long baggy shirts.

List

Shirt:  Sears Outlet - FREE, Pants:  Deb - $1.00, Boots:  JCPenney - $15.00

Right now in my life I am feeling overwhelmed.  Overwhelmed with the fact that my To Do List is never ending.  I feel like nothing is ever clean enough.  Nothing is ever organized enough.  Struggling with wanting to enjoy life and be lazy, but how can I with such a long list.  This afternoon I am going to sit and make a gigantic list and I'm hoping as I cross them off it will make me feel better.  Feel like I have actually accomplished something.

Half Off Wednesday

Polka Dot Dress - $2.49

F21 Black Skirt - $2.49

Brown Boots - $1.49

Let there be rain

Jeggings:  Walmart - $7.00, Boots:  JCPenney - $14.99, Shirt:  NY&C

I would definitely describe my areas current situation as being in a drought.  No rain for months kills everything.  Where our yard use to be green with thick grass is now brown and shriveled up.  You know your yard is bad when you walk on it and it crunches.  We have a 50/50 chance today of rain so maybe, just maybe, we will finally get some relief.

High of 107 today and I'm wearing black?

Today is half off Wednesday at Value Village so I will be heading there after work!  I didn't make a thrift store wish list this month as I have been trying to get my huge alterations pile down.  What I have noticed in my closet lately is I have way more winter clothes than summer clothes.  With the 100 degree temps we have been having I feel like I'm wearing the same thing every weekend.  Hopefully, I can find some short sleeve shirts tonight at the thrift store.

The Office Quote of the Day

Jeans:  Sears Outlet- FREE, Shirt:  Macy's - $4.99
Michael:  Stand up.  You will be thin.  You won't drool over pizza like an animal anymore.

Kevin:  But, I --

Michael:  You will find love.

Kevin:  Michael, I'm pretty much okay with who I am now.

Michael:  Don't be.  You should never settle for who you are.

Weekend goes by too fast

Doesn't this make you want to run down the hill singing "The hills are alive, with the sound of music"
We made an impromptu trip up to a family property with some friends over the weekend and had a great time.  There was good food, good drinks, a wonderful view but not so great fishing.  We expended our 2nd Amendment to bear arms and made our own little shooting range.  Our snapping turtle hunters stalked the water and waited patiently for the perfect timing.  Us women are so proud of our men/snapping turlte hunters.

In my white tee, yep, in my white tee

Shirt:  Walmart - $1.00, Jeans:  Thrifted - $4.00, Necklace:  Thrifted - $5.00

I am not ashamed to admit that I loved the song "White Tee" by Dem Franchize Boys in high school.  Even though my activities in my white tee are a little different than theirs......

I work in my white tee
I drive in my white tee
All my food leaves stains on my white tee
I cook in my white tee, serve food in my white tee
Everybody knows I look clean in my white tee

My First

Shirt:  Thrifted - $0.99, Jeans:  Thrifted - $2.49, Shoes:  Charlotte Russe - $4.99
This shirt was purchased on my first ever trip to Value Village.  I remember walking out of the store feeling ecstatic, it was like a whole new world was opened up for me.  A new world where clothes were so cheap that you didn't even have to look at prices!

My obsession with Value Village continued for months until finally I convinced Danny to go with me.  Let's just say.....he didn't walk out with the same feeling as me.  If I remember correctly, he said he didn't want me going back and especially if I was alone.  He jinxed me cause since he said that, I have had two really weird encounters.  But in the end, cheap clothes will always win out.

Crochet Top

Shirt:  Thrifted - $0.99, Necklace:  NY&C - $2.99, Jeans:  Express, Shoes:  NY&C - $9.99

A crochet top has never been on my radar but as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it.  The best thing about shopping at thrift stores is how unique a lot of the clothes are.  The chances of me seeing somebody wearing the same shirt as me is slim to known.

HOW TO....alter a pair of jeans

Disclaimer:  I am by far no expert on sewing and I'm sure there are a ton of different ways to alter jeans.  This is just the easiest and most convenient for me.

These 7 for all mankind jeans were a steal at $3.99.  I bought them knowing that I would have to alter them.  The legs needed to be taken in and the length needed to be shortened.

First step is to turn the jeans inside out and lay them on the floor/table/whatever surface you like.  Find a pair of your jeans that you love the fit of and lay them on top of the jeans that you are going to alter.  Note:  Line up the insides (starting at the crotch) of the jeans perfectly so you will just need to alter the outside.

Put your pins in the jeans that need to be altered along the edge of the jeans that fit you well.  This will be your guideline when you start your sewing.  I prefer to start sewing from the top of the jeans and work my way down to the bottom (but either way you feel more comfortable should work).  Zig-zag stitch was my preference and turned out feeling very secure.

After you sew each leg, turn the jeans right side out and try them on to make sure they fit correctly.  Once the jeans fit the way I wanted them too, I got to working on the length.  This is by far the easiest part.  I literally just tucked in approx. 3 inches of the material up into the jeans and then sewed all the way around each leg.

Comfortable

Sweater:  Old Navy - $7.00, Dress:  Macy's - $5.00
This is actually a dress that I put a sweater over.  It showed way too much cleavage for my liking so instead of never wearing it, I put another shirt over it.  This outfit has to be one of the most comfortable I have ever wore.

I have a confession to make......

JCPenney - $7.00
I bought a pair of sunglasses.  Yeah, yeah, I know.....their new which breaks my rule BUT in my defense.....I have never seen sunglasses in a thrift store and mine were so beat up that I needed a new pair bad.  Danny, otherwise known as Mr. Sunglass Expert, even loved them on me.  That sealed the deal, they had to be mine!

Happy Friday

Shirt:  Thrifted - $1.50, Jeans:  Thrifted - $2.49, Shoes:  Wet Seal - $5.00, Belt:  Thrifted - $2.49
My plan for tonight is to finally work on some sewing projects that I have been procrastinating.  I haven't done any sewing since we moved in our new house, which is weird because now I have my own craft room!  Shirts need to be fitted, shorts need to be made.  Tonight will be full of mistakes, frustration and at the end of the night hopefully joy.

The Office Quote of the Day

Shirt:  Thrifted - $0.99, Jeans:  Thrifted - $2.99, Necklace:  Gift, Boots:  Wet Seal - $5.00

Holly:  Do any of you have any concrete complaints about something he's done?

Jim:  Well, I mean, he humped Michael.

Holly:  Well, if that's the case, I guess I've got to be fired, too.

Orb

Jeans:  NY&C - $7.99, Shirt:  NY&C, Shoes:  Kohls - $7.99
I hate when orbs show up in my pictures....I've been told that it means there is a ghost around.

This shirt has a long back story.  I've had it for years and ended up getting a bleach stain on it while I was cleaning.  Sat in my closet forever and I had hoped the stain would just magically disappear.  Well it didn't.  So while we were packing for the move, I put it in the Goodwill pile.  It was a very sad moment for me.

A few days later, I dug it out of that Goodwill pile.  That shirt was going with me to the new house and I would figure out something.  My solution ended up being dump more bleach on it and see what happens.  Lucky me that I actually liked how it turned out.

All I did was fill the bathroom sink 1/4 way full of bleach and let the bottom half of the shirt sit in there for 10 minutes.  Stuck it in the washing machine on rinse cycle and all done.  Best part is the bathroom sink also got cleaned at the same time.  Two birds, one stone!

For all of you that can buy new......

JCPenney has some really good deals on shoes right now.  If you have a JCPenney near you, they also offer free shipping to the store.  Here are my favorite picks.....

$20

$10

$12

$24

Scissors solve everything

Shirt:  Target, Necklace:  NY&C - $2.99, Skirt:  Thrifted - $1.99, Shoes:  Gift
A little hard to tell in the picture but this is the polka dot skirt that I bought and mentioned here.  I cut a good 6 or more inches off of it cause the length was funky.  The material does not require hemming so I was lucky in that aspect because I cut it this morning right before I left for work.

In mourning

Shirt:  Old Navy - $4.00, Necklace:  Gift, Pants:  NY&C - $7.99
Don't be fooled by the smile on my face....I am in mourning.  After 5 days of vacation, this girl does not want to go back to work.  I want to go back in time and slap the person who thought of working 5 days a week and off 2 days.  Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Vacation

Reading a lot, snuggling with my best friend, lounging around the house, not working AT ALL is my kind of vacation.

I hope everybody had a wonderful 4th of July!

Pathetic

How is it possible for them to wake up at 6:30 a.m. but be right back to sleep at 7:15 a.m.?

Sometimes I wish I had a dog's life.

Pink Pants

Shirt:  Thrifted - $1.50, Pants:  Hand me down, Sandals:  NY&C - $9.99
If I got a dollar everytime somebody mentioned my pink pants today.......I would be able to buy myself dinner for free.
