Half Off Wednesday

Made a trip to the Thrift Store yesterday since it was half off Wednesday.  I didn't stay long but I found some really good stuff.

Old Navy Jeans - $2.49

Vigoss Jeans - $2.99

Banana Republic Jeans - $2.49

Bandanna Shirt - $0.50

Red/White Stripe Blouse - $1.49

Pink Blouse - $0.50

Black leather clutch - $1.49

Belt - $0.99

DIY Bermuda Shorts

This is kind of a lame tutorial since it is pretty obvious what you need to do.  You start out with a pair of pants that you just don't like the length of.  Mine were given to me free by a friend and since they were a petite size, they were way to short.

Fold your pants in half and make sure both legs are lined up exactly.  I cut just below the knee which gave me plenty of fabric to roll four times.  The more times you roll the material up the leg, the more secure it will be.

There you have it, a new pair of bermuda shorts!

Memorial Day

Shirt: Walmart - $1.00, DIY Shorts: FREE, Shoes: Random Store - $5.00, Hat: Dollar Tree - $1.00
Our Memorial Day weekend consisted of a trip to the lake, being ate up by mosquito's (I won't be wearing shorts for awhile!), spending time with family and friends, drinking way too much Captain (which had major consequences), walking into a store at the mall AND actually coming out with something, watching 'The Nanny' with my co-pilot Macy, and last but not least, getting Birthday wishes from everyone I love.

The Office Quote of the Day

You guys are my best friends.  And I mean that.  Managing you for this last week has been the greatest honor of my life.  Any if you ruin this, I will burn this office to the ground.  And I mean that figuratively, not literally.  Because you guys are so, so important to me.  I love you guys, but don't cross me, but you're the best.

2 posts in 1 day

Dress:  Thrifted - $1.99, Skirt:  Thrifted - $1.99, Belt:  Thrifted - $0.99, Shoes:  Target
Yep, 2 posts in 1 day!  As my friend Amber would say....Woot! Woot!

While Danny was mowing and I was "supposed" to be getting the food ready to grill, I decided to do an impromptu dress up.  My top is actually a dress that I sewed a little too small for me so it shows way too much of my curves.  Instead of starting all over or throwing it away, I threw an oversized skirt over it.  I normally play it safe with all my outfits so this isn't exactly my style but it's still fun to play around.

Blurry

Sweater:  Kohls, Dress:  NY&C, Shoes:  JCPenney
How is it possible for a picture to come out blurry when it is sitting on a deck rail?  Was there an earthquake right at that moment, which caused the deck to shake?  It will always be a mystery to me.

On another note, after I saw this picture, I realized that I really didn't like the frumpyness of the sweater so I switched it out for a white blazer.  That's one of the perks from taking a picture every morning....you can see what works and what doesn't.  You would be surprised at how different you look in a camera vs. the mirror.  Kind of scary!

Birthday Present

Danny texted me this morning and said "I gotta good idea for your birthday.  Do you want me to take you clothes shopping?"  In which I replied "Yes!!!!!!!!!  Yes!!!!!!!!".

For you to really understand the magnitude of this gift is to understand how Danny feels about shopping.  He loathes shopping.  Well, he loathes spending money!  Yep, he is one of the reasons I started this blog.  I knew it would make him happy that I was no longer spending so much on my shopping addiction.

I can't even explain how excited I am to browse stores that I haven't been in for months.  Now, on to making my wish list for our shopping trip.

They Fit

Shirt:  Sears Outlet - FREE, Pants:  Target - $1.24, Boots:  JCPenney - $15.00
How did I remember the exact amount for my pants?  Cause I'm the person that doesn't take tags off of clothing until I wear them and sometimes they sit in my closet for years.  I remember when I bought these pants, they didn't fit.  But for $1.24, I was not going to leave them behind.  Tried them on this morning and they fit!

Where's the Beef?

Shirt:  Wendy's Promotion - FREE, Jeans: Thrifted - $4.00, Boots:  Thrifted - $3.00
This is one of my favorite t-shirts.  Not just because it was FREE but because Wendy's is delicious.  Who wouldn't want a shirt that says "Where's the Beef?"?

Jewelry

Shirt:  Sears Outlet - FREE, Pants:  Deb - $1.00
My jewelry armoire is still at the old house so I haven't wore jewelry in almost a full week.  Our time apart has made me realize how much I love jewelry.  It adds that extra something to every outfit.

Birthday Boy

Happy Birthday to the boy that is kind, caring and strong.  Who puts up with my craziness of all things.  Who will come home on his birthday to a house full of chaos and won't complain.  Who didn't ask for a single thing for his birthday (unlike me, who has a long list).  Who, no matter what, will always be my favorite person in the whole world.  I hope all your birthday wishes come true.

Love,

Jodi

Nervous

Even though it has been almost 6 months since we've decided to move, the day has finally arrived and I am nervous.  I have never liked change, even if it is change for the better.  Hopefully, there will be no regrets and this house will be our forever home.

Spring Scarf

Scarf:  Thrifted - $4.00

If you are not familiar with my May Wish List, take a look here.

This beautiful scarf came from an antique store near where I work.  It screams Spring with the mix of colors and adds a nice pop to any plain t-shirt.  It's going to be fun to figure out all the ways that it can be tied.

You've Got Mail

One of the best things in life is receiving a package in the mail.  Especially, when you have been so excited to receive your new blue loafers.  This was one of my purchases from Kohl's and they sadly didn't have my size in store so I had to wait a whole week to receive them in the mail.  It was so worth the wait!

New Favorite Necklace

Shirt:  TJ Maxx - $7.00, Jeans:  Thrifted - $4.00, Necklace:  Kohls:  $4.00

This necklace has been worn almost every day since I got it from Kohls last week.  I fell in love with the design (reminds me of paint can openers) and the length.  There's probably a way to DIY it but for $4.00 you can't beat the price.

Morning Conversation

Guys, why did you stay out so long in the rain?

We didn't realize it was raining that hard until it was too late.

Well, why didn't you come in whenever I was calling you?

We couldn't hear you through the sound of the rain.

Puppy Love

Shirt:  JCPenney, Cardigan:  Forever21, Jeans:  NY&C, Boots:  JCPenney

Thank you Effie for reminding me what it is like to have a puppy around.  Your puppy breathe, your precious naps and your clumsiness made me fall in love with you last night.  If only that Tobey would see how cute you are.

Thank God for Gift Cards

Shirt:  Kohls - $5.00, Jeans - Express, Shoes - Target

Whoever invented gift cards....thank you!  I've had a gift card to Kohls' that I've been holding onto since Christmas and I decided to use it last night.  With 4 shirts and 1 pair of shoes purchased, that should hold me over for awhile.

What is wrong with people?

As I was driving home the other day, I noticed a boy and girl standing in front of their car at the side of the road.  Right when I looked over the girl pulled down her pants and started to go to the bathroom.  I was completely shocked at what I was seeing!  The middle of the day, on a busy highway, was a girl pulling down her pants to pee in front of her car.  The boy was trying to block her from view of the traffic but that was impossible.  That experience really made me think.  What is wrong with people?

Wish List for May

The Office Quote of the Day

This brightened my day after a horrible drive into work.

Toby:  I just wanted to let you know that I'll be taking a leave of absence starting next week.

Michael:  Oh, because you've been on the lam because the boring police have been after you and they finally caught up with you?

Toby:  No.  The opposite.  I was actually selected to be a juror on a very high-profile case.

Michael:  Yes, the case of the horrible, redheaded sad sack, and the verdict, it was Toby and the sentence, death.  Death to Toby.

Dwight:  Death to Toby!

Toby:  That's hurtful talk, and we've talked about that.
